Gifted Programs

Just wondering what gifted programs school districts may have. Do you have a person on staff who runs the program? Is it an extra-curricular type pay position where they come in for a hour a day or every other day? What type of curriculum do schools use? We are looking at the possible need for something and would like some info if I could get it. Much appreciated.

Watertown has a gifted program.
We have 1.5 teachers K - 6 and 1 for 7 - 12 The K - 6 is a 1/2 day pullout every week beginning with 2nd graders and some additional after school enrichment classes. Also there is time for support for classroom teacher differentiation work and guidance from those specialists. They are re-vamping the curric used in each of the grade levels now. Robin Moe at Garfield Elem in Watertown is the full time teacher there and Dr. Lesli Hanson (our assistant Supt. In Watertown) oversees that program.
