Do schools have "No Nits" policies in place? It is something
that is recommended or should it not be considered? Why or why not? If schools
do have this policy in place can I please have a copy. Thank you.

HEAD LICE
All students are screened for head lice as needed during the school year.
Children with live lice will be sent home for treatment. They are allowed back
into school after they have been treated. Head lice are very small, dark
brownish insects (less than 1/8th inch long) that live on human heads. They lay
their eggs (nits) close to the scalp. The eggs are tiny (about the size of the
eye of a small needle) and are dark gray or a whitish-opaque color.

We have a policy in place similar to Tim Steffensen's also. They
only problem is if you are a school that does not have a school nurse, you will
be the one responsible to check for nits. We do not have a school nurse, so I
check all of the heads and I spend a considerable amount of time if anyone gets
head lice because I then have to check it daily and show the parents how to
clean it up. I do recommend a policy, but you have to be able to enforce the
policy.

We don't really have a policy but we do have guidelines. Our
guideline states, "The student may attend school after treatment. After repeated
infestation of the same student, the student may be excluded until all nits are
removed."
Hope this helps. Have a nice day.
